I spray painted ALL of my "house" tools hot pink this past Saturday. I am not one of those gals who LOVES hot pink on everything, however it will keep my husband from taking them and claiming them as his own! (As if he doesn't have enough tools!)

He was disgusted and claimed I ruined a perfectly good batch of Kobalt brand tools! Ha! Goal accomplished!

Irish Twins

I found these cute, cute baby jumpers at Old Navy for their baby shower a couple weeks ago. (Yup, that means an adoption date is on the calendar!) The weather is starting to cool off enough to wear long sleeves~ I was tickled when I showed up today and their mama had them in their matching outfits!

Baby Belle~ Will be 7 months on Oct 1st
She is now sitting on her own!

Irish Twins- born 9 1/2 months apart!
I have no idea how I got them to sit still long enough next to each other to take a few photos!

Little Guy will be 16 1/2 months on Oct 1st.

Hamburger Birthday Bliss

Two weekends ago we celebrated 3 family birthdays with Jason's side of the family. We grilled out hamburgers, the guys made homemade ice cream and best of all...Jason's Aunt Karla went ALL out on the "cake" this year!

She's recently become a Bakerella fan and had to give these fun "cakes" a try! They were just darling!

Aunt Karla's version:

She had to make like 16 or so everyone there could have one!

Baby Love

My daddy used to sing us a song when we were little ~ something about "baby love, my baby love, won't be my baby love?"

Little guy came over one day to my house and helped me fold laundry. Check out both of their blue blue eyes!

Little Guy is 15 1/2 months. He is standing and traveling furniture. I bet he will be walking by the end of this month.

Baby Belle is 6 months old. She is passing up her brother in many milestones (she was not quite as premature as he was). She is working on her sitting skills, but not quite by herself just yet.

Tuesday this week the neighborhood garden club threw a baby shower for their mom, which is why we are both dressed up in this picture.

I made a wreath/mobile for Baby Belle's nursery. Just a small something my friend pointed out in a Pottery Barn catalog that they don't actually sell.

See the wreath above the crib?

Turning a House into a Home

Happy Birthday to me!
Side note before the post: My friend Elise stopped by today to see the new place and she brought me sushi and flowers for my birthday. What a cool idea. I am so going to use that down the road!

It's been 3 weekends ago that we moved into a cute little vintage duplex....and 3 weeks of lots of boxes still hanging out everywhere. I was planning to go visit a friend in Arkansas this weekend, but it just wasn't going to work out with her schedule so I determined this would be the weekend I get rid of all the moving boxes. Today my mom helped me get some rugs and install a new light fixture while I unpacked.

Last night my family went out to eat at Charleston's for my birthday, my card from my parents had a page out of a catalog with rugs on it and my mom wrote on the photo, "$200 towards an area rug for your new home!" I was THRILLED as I have been searching high and low on Craigslist for at least one area rug for our living room. We absolutely LOVE that we don't have any carpet in our new place, but a rug here and there would be awesome!

So today my mom met me at Sam's so we could check out their "Tent Rug Sale!" out in the parking lot. Oh my gosh. Um, we were definitely not in the market for $1200+ rugs, so we moved on to Lowes. We found a couple great possibilities except that we didn't think to bring a cushion from my red sofa so we decided to go get a cushion and go the Lowes by my house. The Lowes by my house had a larger selection of rugs and quite a few more on clearance! I found a black and white one that I fell in love with, but it was far too contemporary for my traditional furnishings. :(
Plus I had to think ahead, if I use this rug for the next 5+ years will I still like it? I love anything black and white right now, but I'm sure it's kind of a fad thing that my taste will change sometime in the next year or so. We ended up going with this more traditional rug, and the best part!? The large 7'x10' was only $98, so I got two!! One for my living room and one for under my dining table. I really wanted to get one of each of these large rugs however the dining and living rooms really flow together so they need to match.
Also while we were at Lowes we walked through the lighting section as we were leaving and my mom commented, "Look at that cute light fixture, that would look so much better than that ugly can light someone stuck above your sink (not recessed into the ceiling)." We found the box on the shelf and it was only $5.60, so we couldn't pass that up! My mom took the old light down and put up the glass one in less than 30 minutes, I was impressed! My kitchen is SO much brighter!

Today I accomplished getting the living room all set up, tomorrow is the office/craft room. After that all I have left is stuff to hang on the walls here and there. I'm pleased with how the living room is coming. It's pretty obvious we need some more furniture (we doubled our living space moving here) but that is not super high on the budget right now so I'm working with what I've got! I have these really awful bookshelves that everyone seems to think I need to replace. I said to my sister, "Well do you think I could sell them on Craigslist and get some other ones?" to which she replied, "I think you'd have to pay someone to take them off your hands." However until they bother a certain husband enough to make some new ones, that's the only place I have for books. So full of books they are ;)
(the room is about another 1/3 in size that the picture doesn't show. Plenty of room for a love seat or some more chairs and a sofa table by the entry!)

More Bella Fun Photos!

I've got more fun pictures off my camera from staying with Bella Marie! She was soooo much fun! We were supposed to stay with she and her brother again last weekend, but their mom was sick and didn't end up going on the trip. Hopefully in a couple more weeks we'll get to stay with them again!

Bella showing off our "before" stuff from the Purple Glaze- its this awesome art studio where you go paint pottery with glazing!

Mine was a mixing bow, a tribute to Bakerella!!

"After" - I free handed the Zebra stripes with pencil and she painted them in the with glaze

Mine "after"- we picked them up 2 days after we made them and they had a chance to be fired in the kiln.

Getting sushi at the Flying Fish

"So do you guys like sea food?! Ok, ahhhhhh, see food!"

We made 4 pies for the RFKC pie auction, I'm still not sure how much they went for in total. I'm pretty sure the pecan pies went for $135 each! (they raised $6,400 at the auction, enough to send like 13 kids to camp next summer!)

A New Post!

After not blogging for close to TWO weeks, I decided today I'd better get on it! (Well...I just set my computer up Saturday, only for Jason to take it apart to locate a noisy fan...but this morning he put it back together until the new fan comes.)

Lots and lots has been going in our household based on my camera. It's been one month to the day since I've last dumped photos on to my computer so I'll give you the highlights in several different posts:

Dad & Grandpa Jeff making goofy faces for the camera.
My dad's dad & his wife, Alice, visited us from San Diego. I haven't seen he & his wife since I was a senior in high school (7 years). This is only their 3rd visit to Tulsa in the 28 years my parents have been married.

Grandpa Jeff, Grandma Alice, Dad, Jason & me
(they had to meet Collin & Nessa the next night)

Grandpa plays in a harmonica band with his Kiawanis group, he said they were on YouTube, but I couldn't find them to link it on here :(

Self discovery

I learned something new about myself tonight:
I am a million times better at typing on Jason's laptop than I am on my own desktop keyboard.
Guess that means I need a laptop, honey! And make it a Macbook while you're at it.**

**Highly unlikely I will be getting a new computer anytime soon! ;)

I've got tons of photos to upload and share...however since getting my dear ol' desktop computer set up has not been high on the priority list of moving, simple cell phone photos will have to suffice.

Last Wednesday night, Jason took me to the local showing of the Hillsong United concert! We had really close seats and I loved EVERY minute we were there! Brooke Fraser even sang a couple of my fav tunes.

Sadly though, we had to leave at 9:15 (our friends Jef & Laurie said it went until 10:45pm!) and book it over to the house of this sweet family. Mom, Dad, and son went on a missions trip and we stayed with their super-spunky-talks-100mph-non-stop 11 year old daughter, Bella! We had SO MUCH fun with her! She and I painted pottery one evening at the Purple Glaze. She helped me paint my new living room. We took her out for sushi at The Flying Fish, and then HAD to go get Josh's Sno Shack. (She was floored that I went to high school with Josh!) She helped us move on Saturday. She loved on Little Guy and Baby Belle, and then apparently had baby fever because Saturday night she birthed a watermelon from under her shirt and named it "Veniswayla-Pluto-Girgle-Pickle-Rooster" (spelling and all!) "Veniswayla" was complete with a drawn on face and real Pampers diaper. She had us in stitches ALL evening!

Sunday we took Bella to her church, LifeChurch, where Matt & Jess attend, so we sat with them. Then that afternoon she and I baked 4 pies for the RFKC pie auction at our church and she and Jason played TWO games of Monopoly. Lets just say I finally went to bed after telling them multiple times it was past Bella's bedtime (to the tune of 11:30 -ish) on school night and I overheard Jason tell her once done, "Now don't tell your mom how late I let you stay up!" I hope she didn't fall asleep the next day in school!

We had a great turn out of friends on Saturday that helped us move- Matt & Jess, Jef & Laurie (well...they just showed up for dinner, but have offered to bring us a housewarming dinner this week, um YES!), Jason's friend Jerod and our new neighbors (Little Guy & Baby Belle's parents- who so graciously offered to buy everyone Hideaway Pizza for dinner after moving! It was awesome!)

Bella's family came home Monday afternoon and I made it over to our new home and finished painting the kitchen and my Mom brought her parents over to lend a helping hand too. My mom & grandma rock- they put shelf paper in ALL the cabinets and drawers! And my grandpa got 3/4 of the living room walls painted with a 2nd coat! They were a huge help!

Oh and another shout out to my friend, Jessica who pretty much unpacked my whole kitchen! Thank you!!

And last but not least, today was my very first day being a nanny. It's definitely going to take some getting use to of the schedule (full time hours). My #1 goal with this is to be a blessing in our friend's lives. It's fun living right across the street from them too! Once my house is a little more in order, I'll be able to take one of the kids home with me for part of the afternoons. That will be nice too.

My eyeballs are burning I'm so tired, so I'd better go to sleep...but I needed to blog all of this so I don't forget this grand adventure we've started! (so, pardon my ramblings tonight!)

It's really true, you will grow a watermelon in your tummy if you eat too many watermelon seeds!
